Operation Christmas Child at Wright’s UMC:
  • Pack your own box – find an empty shoebox, use a plastic container or grab an Operation Christmas Child box from the “Shoebox Tree” in the narthex (they are bigger and sturdier this year!), plus a brochure with packing labels. Use the packing list to buy new gifts for a boy or girl, then return the box to church by Nov. 4th. Be sure to enclose a check made out to Samaritan’s Purse to cover the $9 shipping charge for each box you pack. You can write one check to cover multiple boxes. Please write “OCC” in the memo line. Our church goal is 40 boxes from individuals.
  • Make a monetary donation to cover the shipping costs of the boxes we will pack at the Packing Party. Our goal is to pack 135 boxes! Choose an envelope from the table top tree in the narthex, enclose your donation for 1 ($9), 2 ($18), 3 ($27) or more boxes, and place in the offering plate. Make checks out to Wrights UMC. For every 5 boxes that are sponsored, an ornament will be placed on the Christmas tree bulletin board display, plus we’ll celebrate during the children’s sermon.  We need 27 ornaments on the tree to reach our goal!
  • Donate gifts (or funds to buy gifts) to pack at the Packing Party. Look for the big wrapped box in the narthex, or the volunteer holding a shoebox as you leave the service.
  • Come to the Packing (and Pizza) Party on Sunday, November 4th, from 5:30 to 7:00pm, to lend a hand in packing 135 shoeboxes!
Thanks for your involvement in this ministry! We are dreaming big and hoping to pack 200 gift-filled shoeboxes between Wright’s and Edward’s Chapel, to touch the hearts of 200 needy children across the world!
